An open forum on North Korea

I know I typically post items with length that do not require feedback; however, due to recent events, I am kinda curious about the general public’s views on the situation between North Korea and the rest of the world. Whether for or against, interested or simply do not care – whatever your views – they are welcome here. This is not a trash talk place – but at the same time, be honest. Do the recent events with the North incite fear or do you think it pointless or over-the-top?

I am breaking from the mold for a reason. After putting up my post regarding praying for peace on the Korean peninsula, I have decided to focus more on that issue in the coming days. I would like feedback as to what you think in order to get a good grasp on the prevailing views in regards to this topic.

One rule: Be professional. I don’t need to see insults slung around at people who disagree.

Also, help me out! Send people this way to give their opinions as well. I understand my audience is not very big so your help in providing people the opportunity to share their ideas on this topic will greatly enhance its output.

Now, with all that being said, Comment away and let me know your thoughts. There is no restriction on the subject matter EXCEPT that it must have something to do with North Korea and current events.

Your participation is greatly appreciated!!!

I will do my best to put in my two cents here and there~

How Great Things Get Better

I was having a great time in Korea. The job that I was assigned while stationed at Kunsan Air Base was one that gave me quite a bit of time to live the life of a weekend tourist. As I said in my previous post, I went to as many cities and explored lots of different places. Looking back, I regret not taking even more pictures than I did. No matter where I went, there was always multitude of beautiful places to behold.

I truly felt like I was in the minority. It was very common for me to talk to my military friends about the great time I was having only for them to laugh at me or make fun. Most of them thought that having fun in Korea was impossible. At first, I was confused. It didn’t take long before I realized the problem: they didn’t want to have fun.

Getting stationed at Kunsan forces a service member to leave family, friends, and country behind to go to a different country for a year. Many volunteer, hoping it will open doors for them to go to a better base in a different country. Many times, they will send for their families and they can meet them or travel together with them to the next place. So really, Korea is like a stepping stone. It is just the road for them to get to their next destination. Originally, it was supposed to be the same for me. I didn’t know anything about Korea prior to my arrival. I’m so glad my eyes were opened!

Just when I thought my life was good, it got a whole lot better!

One Saturday in August, I went back to one of my favorite cities, Daegu. This time, I traveled alone and I didn’t have anyone set up to be my guide. My goal was simply to walk around the areas outside the bus terminal and go inside the many shops and the markets outside, eat some good food, and call it a day.

I had absolutely no intention to meet my future wife that day.

I’ll talk more about that meeting… next time!

Until then, Take care!
